Anderson Center for Autism provides a full complement of the highest quality support services designed to meet the diverse needs of our students and adults.
Transition Services
In response to the demand for individualized transition services that best meet the requirements of each student, Anderson Center for Autism offers a dedicated Transition Department. This multifaceted service is available for students ages 12 to 21.

Health Care Services
Anderson Center’s Medical/Nursing Department provides medical practices that ensure the highest quality health care for our students and adults. With a nursing director and large nursing staff, consulting pediatricians, and a consulting psychiatrist, the department delivers a proactive, holistic approach to each individual served.
Twenty-four hour services are provided by way of direct service and on-call. Registered Professional Nurses are assigned to both campus and community residences. Individual health care practices are developed in collaboration with the children, adults, their families and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Our nurses also provide medical training and support to Anderson Center’s direct care professional staff. This ensures ongoing, coordinated provision of quality health care. In addition, Anderson Center’s adult residents are offered the opportunity to select a Community Primary Care Provider for their health and wellness needs.
Clinical Services
Anderson Center for Autism’s Clinical Department provides counseling services, crisis intervention, and treatment team consultation designed to address the unique social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our children and adults. Our consulting professionals provide psychiatric and psychological support services. The department also provides support and assistance to parents and family members seeking additional services and funding sources such as, SSI, Medicaid, and adult placement.
Speech and Language Services
Anderson Center’s speech and language services are tailored to the individual needs of our students and adults. Individuals learn the power of communication by participating in the program and are supported as they develop communicative competence. Targeted skills can include the development of picture symbol and augmentative communication techniques, manual sign language, verbal skills, social skills, etc. Regardless of functioning level, or the communication modality that a student uses, our approach is individualized to best develop success in communication.
Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Services
Comprised of three full-time COTA’s, and a part-time OTR and PT, Anderson Center’s dedicated clinical staff is committed to improving each individual’s functioning within the school, residential and community environments.
Based on a holistic view of the individual in need of care, the Center’s OT services address the sensory, fine motor, interpersonal, cognitive and environmental factors that impact his/her ability to function in areas of school and work, play/leisure and self-care. Modalities include individual and group interventions, classroom consultations and environmental modifications.
Our PT services address the needs of students and adults with gross motor deficits. The focus is on improving functional mobility in the classroom and the community while preventing secondary complications that could arise from conditions such as cerebral palsy and stroke.
